The One With the Dozen Lasagnas

Thursday, 12 January 1995

Phoebe tells Rachel that Paolo propositioned her during a massage, and Rachel throws him out, while Ross avoids learning his baby's sex and Chandler and Joey buy a table together.

What happens

• Rachel announces that she and Paolo are spending the weekend at her sister's place in the Poconos, and Ross complains that the relationship was supposed to be brief.
• Carol tells Ross the amniocentesis results are healthy and offers to tell him the baby's sex, but Ross decides he would rather be surprised.
• Chandler and Joey argue over who owes the other a new table and agree to buy one jointly, which makes Chandler nervous because his last roommate left after they shared a purchase.
• Paolo books a massage with Phoebe on Rachel's recommendation and undresses completely.
• Monica admits she asked Carol and already knows the baby's sex, then whispers it to Joey while Ross protests.
• Phoebe tells the group that Paolo came on to her, and Ross and the others insist she owes Rachel the truth.
• Phoebe establishes with Rachel that she never lies and then tells her what Paolo did.
• Rachel throws Paolo's clothes off the balcony and ends the relationship, and Monica sends him away with one of her spare lasagnas.
• Ross comforts Rachel and hints that she deserves someone better, but Rachel says she is finished with men entirely.
• Rachel lets slip that Ross is having a boy, and Ross ends up delighted rather than annoyed.
