On Valentine's Day, Chandler is set up with Janice again and sleeps with her before dumping her, Ross's date collapses when he invites Carol over, and the women burn their ex-boyfriends' keepsakes.

What happens

• Joey and Chandler push Ross into approaching a neighbour he barely knows, and Joey holds Chandler to a double date he has already promised.
• At the restaurant, Chandler learns the woman Joey has lined up for him is Janice, whom he has dumped twice.
• Phoebe proposes a cleansing ritual to break the bad-boyfriend pattern, and Monica and Rachel agree to burn what their exes gave them.
• Lorraine takes Joey home, so Joey abandons Chandler at the table and leaves his credit card to cover dinner.
• Chandler and Janice run up Joey's card on champagne, and Chandler wakes the next morning with Janice in his bed.
• Chandler tries to get Janice out quietly, but Monica, Rachel, Joey and Ross all find out she is back.
• The bonfire catches on Paulo's grappa and burns out of control, and firemen arrive to put it out.
• Susan is called away to work, so Ross invites Carol to join his date with Kristin.
• Chandler ends it with Janice, and Janice tells him calmly that he will seek her out again.
• Ross finds that Kristin has walked out, asks Carol to try again with him, and Carol turns him down.
• The firemen ask Monica, Rachel and Phoebe out, then admit among themselves that they are married.
