The One With the Ick Factor

Thursday, 4 May 1995

Monica dates a college senior who turns out to be a high school student, Phoebe temps as Chandler's secretary and learns his staff resent him, and Ross waits on his beeper for Carol's labor.

What happens

• Rachel confesses that she had a sex dream about Chandler, which unsettles Ross more than it does anyone else.
• Phoebe explains that she taught her massage clients to massage themselves and now needs work, so Chandler offers her his secretary's desk for a few weeks.
• Ross shows off a beeper he is carrying so that Carol can reach him the moment she goes into labor.
• Monica admits that the man she is seeing is a college senior and that she has told him she is twenty-two rather than twenty-six.
• Phoebe tells Chandler that she hid their friendship at the office because his staff have disliked him since his promotion.
• Monica asks Ethan to stay the night, and Ethan warns her first that he is a virgin who has been waiting for her.
• After they sleep together Monica admits her real age, and Ethan then admits that he is a senior in high school.
• Chandler takes Phoebe's advice and goes to a staff party, and Phoebe reports afterwards that the mockery has only changed shape and that these people cannot be his friends.
• Ethan argues that they belong together, and Monica ends the relationship because the age gap disgusts her.
• Ross's beeper goes off with Carol's emergency code, and he tells Rachel the baby is coming.
