The One Where Eddie Moves In

Thursday, 22 February 1996

Joey finds living alone lonely and decides to ask Chandler about moving back in, but Chandler has already taken a new roommate named Eddie, while Phoebe learns another singer's voice was used on her music video.

What happens

• Joey shows off the apartment he has decorated himself and notices that Chandler is the only one who did not come.
• Phoebe tells the others that a small record company wants to record Smelly Cat and shoot a video for it.
• Monica loses patience with Ross, who is staying at her apartment and monopolising her bathroom.
• Chandler phones Joey to apologise for missing the housewarming, and the two of them end up watching Baywatch together from separate apartments.
• Joey admits to Monica and Phoebe that living alone is duller than he expected and wonders whether Chandler would take him back.
• Ross and Rachel tell Chandler that Joey has settled into his new place, and Chandler accepts that the two of them are only friends now.
• Joey comes over to raise moving back and finds Chandler packing boxes for Eddie, a man Chandler met days earlier at the supermarket.
• Joey picks a fight over Eddie's eggs and the empty juice carton, and Chandler answers that Joey left, so he was entitled to find someone new.
• Monica tells Ross that she hated him when they were children but loves him now, and the two of them agree to stop needling each other.
• Phoebe discovers from a release form that the record company dubbed another woman's voice over hers on the video.
