Rachel is fired from Ralph Lauren after her boss overhears her Gucci interview, and an old colleague lands her a Louis Vuitton job in Paris, while Phoebe legally renames herself and Joey makes peace with Monica and Chandler's move.

What happens

• Rachel tells the others that a headhunter has set up a meeting for her with Gucci.
• Joey agrees to visit the new house, but privately plans to pick it apart so Monica and Chandler stay.
• Phoebe discovers at the government office that she can pick any name at all, and legally becomes Princess Consuela Banana Hammock.
• Rachel reveals that Gucci passed on her and that her boss, seated at the next table, overheard enough to fire her.
• Ross arrives celebrating the tenure he has just won, and Rachel finally breaks down and tells him she lost her job.
• Mike objects to Phoebe's new name by legally renaming himself Crap Bag.
• Mackenzie, the eight-year-old selling the house with her parents, convinces Joey that he has to let his friends go.
• Rachel runs into Mark outside her old office, and he offers to talk over a Louis Vuitton opening at dinner.
• Phoebe gives in after Mike introduces himself to a client, and the two settle on Buffay-Hannigan.
• Rachel tells everyone that Mark's job is hers, then adds that the position is in Paris.
