The One With the Cake
Emma's first birthday party stalls while she naps, the bakery delivers an obscene cake instead of a bunny, and the guests drift away one by one until Monica and Chandler are left minding her.
What happens
- Monica and Chandler agree to delay their Vermont weekend so they can attend Emma's first birthday party.
- Ross brings a camcorder to record a birthday message for Emma to watch when she turns eighteen.
- Rachel refuses to wake Emma from her nap, so the party sits waiting on a sleeping baby.
- Joey improvises a dramatic reading of a children's book that leaves the room in tears, while Phoebe's birthday song lands badly.
- The bakery cake turns out to be a penis with Emma's photo on it, so Rachel borrows Monica's car and drives back to New Jersey for a bunny.
- Rachel is pulled over without her licence, and Ross leaves to bring it to her after ordering Joey to keep everyone in the apartment.
- Estelle calls Joey about an audition, and the friends race Emma's wind-up toys to settle who has to stay behind.
- Monica and Chandler's toy dog never crosses the finish line, so the others leave and the couple stay with Emma.
- Ross reshapes the obscene cake into a bunny while Rachel drives home.
- Minding Emma leaves Monica and Chandler wanting a baby of their own, and once everyone sneaks back Rachel finally gets her candle-and-cake moment.
