The One Where No One's Ready

Thursday, 26 September 1996

Ross has a museum banquet to get to, and none of his friends will finish dressing; his temper drives Rachel out of the evening until he agrees to drink a glass of congealed fat.

What happens

• Ross arrives in his tuxedo and finds that Joey and Chandler have not started getting dressed.
• Chandler comes back from the bathroom, finds Joey in the chair he had been sitting in, and Joey refuses to give it up.
• A message from Richard plays on the answering machine, and Monica cannot work out whether it is old or new.
• Joey flings dip at Chandler during their fight and stains Phoebe's dress with hummus.
• Monica leaves Richard a message, then uses his machine code to replay it and hears a woman thanking him for the day before.
• Chandler hides Joey's underwear because Joey took the chair cushions, and Joey leaves promising to do the opposite to him.
• Phoebe gives up on borrowing a dress and covers the stain with a large Christmas ribbon instead.
• Ross loses his temper at Rachel over her choice of shoes, and Rachel tells him she is no longer going to the banquet.
• Ross agrees to drink the glass of fat to prove he wants Rachel there, and Rachel stops him and says she will come.
• Monica erases Richard's messages and accidentally records her rambling apology as his outgoing greeting.
