Phoebe fears her dentist visits kill people and the group builds a chopstick pole to poke a motionless neighbour, while Monica hides banging Ben's head and Chandler learns Janice has been kissing her ex-husband.

What happens

• Phoebe tells the others she avoids her dentist because someone she knows dies every time she goes.
• Joey tells Monica and the others that he saw Janice kissing her ex-husband, and he decides to say nothing to Chandler.
• Monica knocks Ben's head against a ceiling beam while babysitting, and she and Rachel agree to keep it from Ross.
• Joey stops Chandler from buying Janice pearls and admits that he saw her kissing her ex-husband.
• Janice admits to two kisses and tells Chandler that she loves both men and cannot choose between them.
• Phoebe declares the curse broken until Joey points out that Ugly Naked Guy has not moved all day, and Joey suggests poking him.
• Joey advises Chandler to step aside rather than stand between Janice and her family.
• Rachel blurts out to Ross that Monica is the one who banged Ben's head.
• Chandler tells Janice to go back to her husband, then begs her to stay, but Janice leaves anyway.
• The poking device reaches Ugly Naked Guy through his window, and he proves to be alive.
