The One With Rachel's Big Kiss

Thursday, 26 April 2001

Rachel runs into an old sorority friend and insists the two of them once kissed in college, and when Melissa denies it Rachel kisses her again to prove it, while Chandler and Ross compete over celebrity tuxedos for the wedding.

What happens

• Rachel bumps into Melissa Warburton, a friend from her sorority, at Central Perk and is talked into having dinner with her.
• Monica tells the others that Rachel and Melissa were once involved, and Rachel admits to one drunken night of kissing in senior year.
• Joey discovers his parents were never invited to the wedding, and Chandler talks Monica into rearranging the seating to fit them in.
• Rachel shows Chandler the tuxedos returned by celebrities, and Chandler decides he has to be married in the one Pierce Brosnan wore.
• Phoebe refuses to believe the story and calls Rachel too vanilla for it, so Rachel brings her along to dinner to hear Melissa confirm it.
• Ross turns up with a tuxedo he believes Val Kilmer wore in Batman, and Chandler asks him not to wear it because it would spoil his own.
• Joey reports that his parents feel unwanted and are staying home, so Monica telephones his mother and blames the post office for a lost invitation.
• At dinner Melissa insists she has no memory of the kiss ever happening.
• Chandler finds a premiere invitation in the jacket pocket and works out that Kilmer wore the tuxedo to a romance film premiere, not in Batman.
• Rachel kisses Melissa outside the restaurant, and Melissa admits she remembers it and loves her, then takes it all back and leaves in a cab.
