The One With All the Candy

Thursday, 7 December 2000

Ross buys Phoebe her first bicycle and finds she cannot ride it, Rachel's joke evaluation of Tag reaches Human Resources, and Monica's holiday candy for the neighbours draws a mob to her door.

What happens

• Phoebe tells the others she never owned a bicycle as a child and only got the empty box the neighbour's bike came in.
• Monica starts making holiday candy to hang outside her door, hoping to learn the names of neighbours she and Chandler have never met.
• The basket empties within a day, and Monica is thrilled enough by the neighbours' appetite to start another batch.
• Ross buys Phoebe a bicycle like the one she described, and she calls it the best present anyone has given her.
• Tag has forwarded Rachel's joke evaluation to Human Resources unread, and Rachel admits she praised his body and drew a crude sketch on it.
• The others work out that Phoebe has only been wheeling the bicycle around, and she topples over the moment she tries to ride it.
• Ross lets go of the bicycle during a lesson, Phoebe falls, and she storms off accusing him of breaking his promise.
• Ross threatens to take the bicycle back unless Phoebe learns to ride, and she agrees to try again.
• Mr. Zelner confronts Rachel and Tag about the evaluation, and Tag saves Rachel's job by claiming he wrote it himself.
• A crowd jams the hallway demanding candy, Chandler sends them all home, and Monica thanks him for ending it.
• Phoebe rides the bicycle on her own, though training wheels are now fitted to it.
