The One With Phoebe's Rats

Thursday, 16 January 2003

Ross and Rachel hire an attractive nanny and forbid Joey from pursuing her, Phoebe ends up caring for a litter of orphaned baby rats, and Rachel's feud with her colleague Gavin ends in a kiss.

What happens

• Ross brings Molly, the nanny he and Rachel have finally hired, to the coffee house to meet Joey and Chandler.
• Rachel discovers that all three men, Ross included, find Molly attractive.
• Mike spots a rat in Phoebe's cupboard, learns that she has been feeding it and calls it Bob, and gets her to agree to remove it.
• Rachel apologises to Gavin for misjudging him, catches him staring at a colleague mid-apology, and takes the apology back.
• Rachel and Ross tell Joey that Molly is off limits, and Joey says the ban only makes him want her more.
• Mike sets traps against Phoebe's wishes, and after Phoebe finds that Bob has had babies, a trap snaps and kills the mother.
• Rachel introduces Gavin to Monica with fake warmth, and Monica invites him to the birthday party.
• Phoebe arrives at the party with the seven baby rats in a box and leaves early to feed them.
• A woman named Tabatha arrives for Molly, the two kiss, and Ross and Joey realise the nanny is not available to Joey at all.
• Gavin turns up late at the party with a scarf as an apology gift, and he and Rachel kiss on the balcony.
