The One With Ross's Inappropriate Song

Thursday, 14 November 2002

Ross finds that rapping Baby Got Back makes Emma laugh, Chandler steals a tape of Monica from Richard's apartment, and Phoebe's disastrous first dinner with Mike's parents ends with Mike telling her he loves her.

What happens

• Ross gets his first laugh out of Emma by rapping a filthy song at her, and is appalled at himself.
• Joey asks what to do with his television money, Monica steers him toward real estate and mentions that Richard is selling his apartment, which needles Chandler.
• Ross tells Rachel about the laugh and admits which song did it, and Rachel is disgusted that he rapped it to their daughter.
• Touring Richard's apartment with Joey, Chandler finds a videotape with Monica's name on it and assumes the worst.
• Mike asks Phoebe to drop the posh accent and be herself, so she tells his parents' guests about her mother's suicide, the burned-out car she lived in and the hepatitis, and the room goes cold.
• Phoebe punches Theodore in the stomach as a joke and learns he has just had surgery.
• Phoebe praises Mike to Bitsy by describing his performance in bed, and Bitsy is more amused than offended.
• Chandler makes Joey watch the tape for him, and Joey tackles him to the floor when the football game turns into something else.
• Alone with Emma, Rachel gives in and raps the same song to get her to laugh, then admits it to Ross.
• Monica sees that the woman on the tape is not her, and is insulted that Richard recorded a game over her.
• Mike defends Phoebe to his parents and calls her the woman he loves, and Phoebe, overhearing, says it back.
