• Ross invites Mike over for the evening so that the two of them can get to know each other.
• Ross and Mike work through the piano, the divorces and the fossils, and find they have nothing to talk about.
• Chandler arrives home in secret, and Monica keeps Joey at the door with a story about practising seduction alone.

• A man named Bill asks Rachel for her number at the bar, and Rachel gives him her real one on impulse.
• Rachel tells Phoebe she should move on from Ross, then realises Ross will answer the phone when Bill calls.
• Phoebe asks Mike to return to the apartment and screen Ross's calls, and Mike talks his way back inside to a baffled Ross.
• Joey spots Chandler's suitcase and exposes the lie, Chandler apologises, and Monica tells him to go to the game after all.
• Ross takes Bill's message for Rachel, starts to raise it with her, and then drops it.
